      Homeschool Happenings-Natural Resource Management

      Calling all homeschoolers. Join the rangers at Pocahontas State Park for monthly homeschool programs on the the third Monday of each month. These hands-on programs are designed for the whole family and will introduce everyone to a variety of nature-themed activities. Younger kids will learn about oaks, maples, pine, and more on a hike along Big Poplar trail. Older kids will learn how land managers use prescribed fire as a tool to maintain and improve habitat for the benefit of plants, wildlife, and people. Programs will be lead by our Natural Resource Crew. Participants will be divided by age (generally 3-7, 7 and up) during programs. Programs begin promptly at 10 am and 1 pm. Reservations are requested for planning purposes, and can be made here: https://tinyurl.com/y8sccyew Only register the participants for the class and feel free to comment their age. Cost is $3 per child ages 3 and up. Parking fees are waived. Please dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes for hiking.
