      College Application and Essay Writing Seminar 2019 (Trinity Summer Programs)

      This college application and essay-writing seminar is a 4 day class with 4 sections available for registration. This seminar will guide rising seniors through several types of college applications and the most recent college admissions essays including essays dealing with personal statements, extra-curricular activities and specific topical essays required by select colleges and universities. Students will gain information and practice in writing their own college admissions essays.  Please Note: Section 1: Morning Session Date: Monday August 5 - Thursday August 8 Time: 9:00am to 11:30am Location: Speight Alumni Room Cost: $295.00 Section 2: Afternoon Session Date:  Monday August 5 - Thursday August 8 Time: 1:00pm to 3:30pm Location: Speight Alumni Room Cost: $295.00 Section 3: Evening Session Date: Monday August 12 - Thursday August 15 Time: 3:00pm to 5:30pm Location: Speight Alumni Room Cost: $295.00 Section 4: Weekend Session Date: Friday August 2, Saturday August 3 & Friday August 9, Saturday August 10 Time: 1:00pm to 3:30pm Location: Speight Alumni Room Cost: $295.00 Location:  The seminar will be held on the Speight Alumni Room on the second floor of the Estes Athletic Center. There is a parking lot located directly in front the Estes Athletic Center that attendees may park in during the seminar. Questions: Any questions can be directed to Dan Geary at 804-327-3159 or BIO: Dr. Daniel Geary  is Trinity's Director of College Counseling.  For more than two decades, Dr. Geary has helped students envision their full potential. He has been the Director of Guidance and College Counseling at several public and private schools and an administrator in the Chesterfield County Public School System and at John Tyler Community College.  In addition, Geary teaches graduate courses at the University of Richmond including; Advanced Educational Psychology, Human Growth and Development, and Human Resource Development. He completed his undergraduate degree at University of Wisconsin and later received his master’s and PhD from VCU. For Dr. Geary, the essential element in the college admissions process is allowing each individual to make wise choices based upon their talents, aspirations and unique circumstances. “With parents and students alike, I try to answer questions, reduce anxiety and simplify what can initially seem like an onerous process,” he says. “The greatest factor in college success is choosing a school that is the right fit.” Christina Grande has been teaching English at Trinity for 16 years. She has also worked with a variety of students in the Richmond area, helping them to establish strong voices in their personal statements for college.  Specifically, Mrs. Grande has been employed by First Choice College Counseling, a company that works one-on-one to help students with all facets of college admission, including SAT Prep, resume writing, and the college application.  Additionally, she has conducted essay writing sessions in area schools for the past 5 years. Passionate about writing, Mrs. Grande is eager to work one-on-one with students to discover how to let their personalities shine through to college admissions.
